Staff and students have celebrated World Book Day with great excitement this year!  The ‘Dress up as your favourite book character’ competition was particularly fierce, with many outstanding entries across Key Stages 3 and 4.  The winning entries from each year group reflect the creativity and ingenuity of our students in choosing characters and designing their costumes. In English lessons, students have been reading together, sharing suggestions for new authors and genres and completing activities designed to foster a love of literature.

Many Year 7 and 8 students also took part in the World Book Day quiz, hunting down Inspector Goole, Lady Macbeth and Winston Smith amongst other famous literary characters!  Thank you to all the staff who supported the day – the demonic Mr le Doare continues to raise the costume design bar for us all ! - and to the students, who not only dressed the part, but made a donation towards Book Aid International.  More information on this fantastic charity and on World Book Day can be found on the World Book Day website.
